Innovative ideas "made in Schleswig-Holstein" were awarded on Thursday, 1st of November in the German National Library of Economics (ZBW) in Kiel. The 1000 Euro special award "nanotechnology" was received to the Geesthacht polymer researcher Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mady Elbahri. more

Research in the Nano-Realm
Transparent foils which are conductive and thus use sunlight for generation of energy. Hulls of ships, which no longer rust due to a nano-coating (nano-technology offers numerous surprising solutions for a variety of applications). The new Helmholtz-Group of Academic Talents ‘Nanochemistry and Nanoengineering’ deals intensively with the design and the development of new materials for industrial applications and, as part of the Geesthacht Institute for Polymer Research, the new group thus expands the research programme of the GKSS. more

PhD Position (m/f/d) in Polymer Physics
Date | 18.01.2019 |
Institute | Institute of Polymer Research |
Location | Geesthacht |
The Institute of Polymer Research at Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht is offering a 3-years PhD student position (m/f/d) in the field of polymer physics. The objective of the research project is modelling the process of preparation of polymer membranes for gas separation applications. Methods of non-equilibrium thermodynamics and polymer physics as well as numerical approaches will be applied. A primary objective of the research project will be the prediction of the free volume in dense polymer membranes and a comparison of the modeling results with experimental data. The place of employment is Geesthacht. more
