Congratulations to Earth League Fellows Appointed to IPCC AR7

We are pleased to recognize the nomination of The Earth League Fellows, Prof. Tim Lenton, Prof. Mercedes Bustamante, and Dr. Fatima Denton as Lead Authors and Review Editors for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Seventh Assessment Report (AR7).

Their continued contributions to the IPCC reflect a deep commitment to advancing climate science and informing global policy:

Dr. Fatima Denton has served as a Coordinating Lead Author and Lead Author across four consecutive assessment cycles—AR4, AR5, AR6, and now AR7—bringing critical insights on climate resilience and sustainable development, particularly in African contexts.

Prof. Mercedes Bustamante has held roles as Coordinating Lead Author and Lead Author since AR5, contributing extensively to the understanding of land use, biodiversity, and ecosystem services in Latin America.

Prof. Tim Lenton has been involved since AR3 as a Lead Author, with a focus on Earth system science and tipping points, helping shape foundational knowledge on climate dynamics.

Their selection for AR7 underscores their leadership in climate research and their ongoing dedication to the IPCC’s mission of delivering rigorous, policy-relevant science.

We extend our congratulations and appreciation for their service to the global climate community!
